Firmin William "Bill" Suever, 89, of Wolcottville, Indiana, died Saturday, February 5, 2022, at his residence.
He was born March 8, 1932, in Delphos, Ohio, to George Arthur and Rose Marie (Heising) Suever.
On September 10, 1955, in Delphos, Ohio, he married Marilyn Meyer.
Mr. Suever honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient.
Bill retired in 1998 as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service. He also owned and operated Suever Upholstery Shop in Wolcottville for over 50 years.
He was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City, the Wolcottville Lions Club where he was a past president, and a life member of Rome City American Legion Post 381.
Bill enjoyed travelling, observing nature, feeding birds, hunting mushrooms, movies, and lake activities. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan. Bill enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Marilyn Suever of Wolcottville; two daughters, April (Tony) Pasquali of Kendallville and Amy (David) Schoeck of Kendallville; a son, Mark (Robin) Suever of Howe; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Jared) Ballou, Blake (Jaclyn) Kocher, Stephen (Ali) Suever, Zachary (Chelsea) Schoeck, Erica Schoeck, and Cameron Schoeck; 11 great-grandchildren, Juliana Ballou, Emily Ballou, Alayna Ballou, Cole Suever, Susanna Ballou, Carter Schoeck, Everett Kocher, Addisyn Schoeck, Andrew Ballou, Reid Kocher, and Ava Kocher; and two sisters, Sharon Decker of Huntertown and Diane Daggett of Lawrence, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Holtz, Dorothy Keck, and Marilyn Ponder; and a brother, Wayne Suever.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with the Reverend Mark W. Suever of Crossroads Baptist Church in Shipshewana officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Wolcottville.
Honorary pallbearers are Dave Schoeck and Tony Pasquali. Active pallbearers are Zach Schoeck, Cam Schoeck, Mike Meyer, Jared Ballou, Kevin Jones, and Scott Suever.
Honor guard services will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard and active duty members of the U.S. Army.
Visitation is Tuesday, February 8, 2022, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Wounded Warriors or National Diabetes Association.
