Ezra W. Bontrager, 86, of Wolcottville died Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 11:50 p.m. at his residence.
Mr. Bontrager was a farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish.
He was born May 6, 1930, in Shipshewana to William L. and Mattie (Yoder) Bontrager. On October 8, 1953 in Topeka, he married Clara Miller. She survives in Wolcottville.
Also surviving are eight daughters Ida Mae (Sam) Lehman of Toepka, Arlene (Andy) Miller of Shipshewana, LeAnna (Daniel) Miller of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, Mary Esther (Freeman) Nisley of Wolcottville, Ruth (Allen) Bontrager of LaGrange, Ruby (Floyd) Miller of Wolcottville, Susie (Harley) Miller of Dalton, Wisconsin, and Freeda (Corneal) Troyer of Wolcottville; five sons Freeman (Edna) Bontrager, Ervin (Laurie) Bontrager, William (Clara) Bontrager, Orla (Alice) Bontrager all of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, and Daniel (Ruthie) Bontrager of Cambria, Wisconsin; a daughter-in-law, Mary (LaVern) Miller of LaGrange; 123 grandchildren; 205 great grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; three sisters, Amelia Stutzman, Emma Schmucker, and Mattie (Chris) Graber; and one brother, Abe (Anna) Bontrager .
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Olin Bontrager; seven sisters, Sarah, Lydia, Mary, Ella, Polly, Ida, and Susie; four brothers, Milo, Amos, Levi and an infant brother; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 9:30 a.m. at his residence, 7510 S 075 W, Wolcottville, with Joas Lambright and home ministers officiating. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Bontrager, Alvin Lambright, Orva Yoder, and Norman Hochstetler. Burial will be in Clear Spring Cemetery.
Calling will be Monday, September 19, 2016 after 12:00 p.m. and all day Tuesday at his residence.
Arrangements are by Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.
