Everett L. Hovarter, 82, of Kendallville died Thursday, October 11, 2012, at 3:25 p.m. in his residence.
He was a lifetime area resident.
Mr. Hovarter had worked at McCray Refrigeration in Kendallville and retired from Pent Wire in Rome City.
As a young child, he attended the South Milford United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Albion Eagles.
Everett loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and listening to his music, which was bluegrass, country, and old rock. He liked to watch Western movies and especially enjoyed watching "The Duke".
He was born September 9, 1930, in South Milford to Thurlow and Grace (Foster) Hovarter. On December 17, 1986, in Kendallville he married Pam Wallen.
Surviving are his wife, Pam Hovarter of Kendallville; seven daughters, Vickie (Jerry) Diehl of Kendallville, Pam (Tom) Miltner of Indianapolis, Roberta "Bobbie "(Garry) DeRossett of Crown Point, Karen Shultz of Fort Wayne, Dawn (Dave) Desmond of Kendallville, Carla (Tim) Resler of Indianapolis, and Hope (Greg) Blessing of Kendallville; five sons, Everett "Butch" (Valerie) Hovarter, Jr. of Bourbonnais, Illinois, John (Kelly) Hovarter of Fort Wayne, Billy Hovarter (Lindsay Reed) of Ashley, Cris (Angie) Terry of Kendallville, and Jeff (Stacy) Terry of Columbia City; 38 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Joyce Kimpel of Kendallville and Mary (Bill) Frazier of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Otis Hovarter, Leo Hovarter, and Willis Hovarter.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 15, 2012, at 10 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Barbara Cross of the South Milford United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.
Honorary pallbearer is Billy Hovarter. Active pallbearers are Cris Terry, Everett Hovarter, Jr., John Hovarter, Greg Blessing, Jonathan Newman, Dave Desmond, Jerry Diehl, and Gary Shultz.
Calling is Sunday, October 14, 2012, from 2 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Monday.
