Obituary

Eva Thompson/Hayner passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024, peacefully at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, with her family at her side. She had been battling cancer since 2021.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Charles Hayner; son, Christopher King; parents, Lester and Magdalene Thompson; three brothers and four sisters.

Surviving is her son, Ron King of Fort Wayne; stepsons, Matthew (Christie) Hayner of Florida and Mike (Heather) Hayner of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Spencer (Jasmyn) DuCharme of Fort Wayne, Claire DuCharme of Mishawaka, Isaac (McKenzie) King of Fort Wayne, Sterling King of Fort Wayne, Cecelia King of Fort Wayne, Lacey Hayner of Florida; three great-grandchildren, Aylah, Norah, and Levi; sister-in-law, Hazel Thompson of Columbia City; sisters, OlaMae Allday of Texas, and Opal Lewis, Peggy (Danny) McGuire, Wanda (Jerry) Watts, Linda (Jimmy) Watkins all of Kentucky.

Eva started her work career managing at Pizza Hut/Pizza Inn in Louisville, Kentucky. She moved back to Indiana in 1992. She became disabled from Bosch in Albion in 2010.

She was a member of the VFW in Kendallville and the American Legion of Rome City, where she enjoyed socializing and doing fundraising. She also enjoyed her flowers and garden.

There will be a graveside service later by the family in Kentucky.

Eva's request is that all memorials go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
