Eva Lucille “Granny” Ballinger, 85, of Wolcottville, Indiana went home to be with Jesus on Monday, September 28, 2026, at her residence.

She was born May 5, 1941 in LaGrange, Indiana to Ralph Guy and Dorothy Alice (Champion) Ballinger.

Eva was a self-employed professional painter who took great pride in her work. She found joy in the simple things in life, especially gardening, canning, playing guitar, and singing. She adored her cats and horses and cherished the time she spent with them.

Eva loved her family with all her heart and never met a stranger. Her kind and welcoming spirit touched everyone she encountered. She had a strong faith in God and was a true prayer warrior, faithfully praying for her family, friends, and everyone in need. When her health allowed, she attended Open Door Community Church in Wolcottville.

Eva’s love, faith, kindness, and beautiful spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are four nieces, Mary (Rob) Brumbaugh of Sturgis, Lori Zimmer of Goshen, Debra Campbell of Auburn and Billie Sue (Mose) Mullins of Kendallville; four nephews, William Ray Zimmer of Michigan, Michael Campbell of Kendallville, Russell DeCamp of Wolcottville and Larry DeCamp of South Milford; five great-nieces, Krystal (Eric Hart) DeCamp of Wolcottville, Samantha (Jordan) DeCamp of Warsaw, Alexis DeCamp, of Wolcottville, Ashton (Melvin) Taylor of Benton Harbor, Michigan, and Joanna (Tommy) Wright of Climax, Michigan; eight-great-nephews, Brandon (Meagan) Taylor of Davison, Michigan, Tyler (Jasmine) Timm of California, Landen Brumbaugh of Sturgis, Michigan, Gregory Adams of Auburn, and Bill Shields, Josh Zimmer, Zack Zimmer, and Jacob Zimmer all of Bay City, Michigan; several great great-nieces and nephews, Addison, Cameron, Connor, Melvin, Jr., Jazymne, Tae, Iyanna, Truman, Silas, Russell, Carter, Calvin, Aaron, Payton, Lexi, and Jace; her dog, Lady and her cat, Tomisna.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Carol Omans; a brother, LeRoy Ballinger; and three nieces, Christine Omans, Kelly Omans, and Rosemary E. DeCamp.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Wolcottville.
