Obituary

Essie Creech, 81, of Stroh died Wednesday, March 23, 2016, in Lutheran Life Village, Kendallville.

She was a homemaker and attended Community Baptist Church in Wolcottville.

She was born August 19, 1934, in Knott County, Kentucky, to Johnnie and Alonzo (Sparkman) Terry.

She married Pearl Messer, and he preceded her in death. She then married Philip Creech, and he survives in Stroh.

Also surviving are six children, Nannie Sue Combs of Stroh, Cecil Messer of Stroh, Lonnie (Connie) Messer of Wolcottville, Jodie Messer of Stroh, Phillip (Tina) Messer of Elkhart, and Berry Jane (Kevin) Thompson of Michigan; two stepchildren, Marvie (Deb) Creech of Valparaiso and Sandy (Steve) Christian of Valparaiso; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; six brothers and sisters, Olive Burton of Stroh, Tom (Bartley) Terry of Kentucky, Zella Conley of LaGrange, Tramel Terry of Stroh, Elizabeth (James) Halbert of Stroh, and Martha Jo (Ray) Slone of LaGrange.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters, Olie Terry, Astor Terry, Edna Terry, and Howard Glenn Terry; and two step-grandchildren, Michael Ferrell and Brian Ferrell.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 28, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Mt. Calvary United Baptist Church in Stroh with Pastor Willie Collins officiating. Burial will be in Brushy Chapel Cemetery.

Calling is Sunday, March 27, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church where there will be an evening service at 6 p.m.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
