Obituary

Erma Hunter, 78, of Avilla died at 7:45 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2008, in Provena Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. She had resided there for five years, coming from Kendallville.

Mrs. Hunter had worked as a grocery store cashier and at Miller's Restaurant in Kendallville.

She was born July 25, 1929, in Knott County, Kentucky, to Will and Pearlie (Handshoe) Conley. On September 9, 1972, in Wolcottville she married James "Lee" Hunter. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2001.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and John Campbell of Corunna; a stepson, Gary Hunter of Springfield, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Barbara Johnson of Michigan; a grandson, Darren Lee Slone of Stroh; seven stepgrandchildren; a brother, Lotchie Conley of Wolcottville; a niece and caregiver, Carol McDaniels of Kendallville; and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 11, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at the Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville, with Pastor Willie Collins officiating. Burial will be in Woodruff Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 10, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
