Eric Lewis Patrick Curtis, 74, of Wolcottville, Indiana died Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio where he had been a patient since May.
He was born on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1950, in Garrett to Albert L. and Klara G. (Schueler) Curtis. They preceded him in death.
On April 1, 1979, at Moeller Road Wesleyan Church in Fort Wayne, he married Kay E. Ulery.
Eric had worked as an EMT in DeKalb County, an Audio Video Specialist in Fort Wayne, as a truck driver for J.B. Hunt, and had also worked at James River (now Graphic Packaging).
He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years and in the Air National Guard for 29 years.
He was a member of Woodruff Grove Church, the Long Rifles Association, and Backwater Retriever Club.
Eric was a "Jack of all trades". He enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening, being outdoors, tinkering in the "man cave", every minute possible sitting on his John Deere Tractor, building black powder guns, leather crafting, training dogs, and doing 1840's rendezvouses.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Kay Curtis of Wolcottville; three daughters, Janice Curtis of Spencerville, Heather Curtis of Auburn, and Allison (Kal) Workman of Auburn; a son, Greg (Robyn) Curtis of Bailey, Colorado; five grandchildren, Alex Nodine, Nick (Amanda) Nodine, Kimberly (Carter) Woodford, Adriana Workman, and Dallas Workman; two great-grandchildren, Lydia Nodine and Lewis Patrick Woodford; and a great-grandson on the way, Wesley Woodford; four sisters, Sheila Watkins of Fort Wayne, Monica (Milt) Lengacher of Fort Wayne, Krista (Mike) Miller of Cape Coral, Florida, and Sabrina (Jim) Roy of Fort Wayne; and a brother, Scott (Wanetta) Patell of Fort Wayne.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 30, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Woodruff Grove Church, 4860 S 450 E, Wolcottville with Pastors Chris Wild and Jim Taylor officiating.
Visitation will also be on Friday, August 30, 2024, beginning at 12 Noon until the time of the service all at the church.
Honor guard services will be provided by active duty members of the U.S. Air Force and members of the Veterans Honor Guard.
Preferred memorials are to the family.
