Obituary

Elmer D. "Cork" Young, 70, of Wolcottville died Friday, June 30, 2017, at 2:10 a.m. in his residence.

He was born September 10, 1946, in Kendallville to Rollo and Wilma (Smith) Young.

On July 20, 1968 in Kendallville he married Elizabeth M. Gerbers. She survives in Wolcottville.

He honorably served in the U.S. Army.

He had worked as a plumber and pipefitter for Local 166 in Fort Wayne for 34 years.

Mr. Young was a member of the LaGrange American Legion post 215.

Also surviving are two daughters, Nicole Evans of Angola and Kristen (Eric) Neihardt of Howe; four grandchildren, Taylor Pollock, Erin Evans, Max Neihardt, and Wyatt Neihardt; a great-grandson, Fallon Pollock; two sisters, Lois Wilks of Sanford, Florida and Penny Caudrillier of Lantana, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joyce Buckles; and a brother, R.D. Butcher.

A celebration of life gathering will be Sunday, July 23, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Post 215, 100 Industrial Parkway, LaGrange, Indiana.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
