Ellis J. Crum, 83, of Kendallville died Monday, October 17, 2011, at 8:15 p.m. in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville.
Mr. Crum had lived in this area since 1958.
Ellis was an evangelist, serving in churches in Connecticut, California, Windsor Canada, and Kendallville. He was also a publisher of Sacred Selections. He was a missionary on several trips to Africa, and directed many tours to the Holy Land.
He was a member of the Kendallville Church of Christ.
He was born April 11, 1928, in Bloomington to Ellis J. and Marion Lucile (Rice) Crum. On August 25, 1946, in Vincennes he married Norma N. Owens.
Surviving are his wife, Norma N. Crum of Kendallville; three daughters, Cheryl (Bob) Gammon of Bonne Terre, Missiouri, Janella (David) Turansky of Fort Wayne, and Beth (Matt) Imel of Indianapolis; two sons, Jay Crum of Indianapolis and Brent (Pam) Crum of Avon; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Crum.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 21, 2011, at 2 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Steve Altman officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville at a later date.
Calling is Thursday, October 20, 2011, from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services in the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Ghana Mission.
