Obituary

Elizabeth "Liz" Combs, 75 of Rome City died Monday, February 18, 2008 at Parkview LaGrange, where she had been a patient since Saturday. Mrs. Combs came to Rome City in 1953 from Knott County, Kentucky. She was born June 9, 1932 in Knott County, Kentucky to Hiram & Bessie (Field) Short whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Combs attended Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church in Lisbon. On June 13, 1949 she maried R.J. Combs in Knott County. He survives in Rome City. Also surviving are two daughters, Lydia & Mike Bell of Wetmore, Michigan and Mylea Morgan of Rome City; a son, Lamont J. Combs and Linda Klein; two sisters, Dallie Slone and Tootsie Owens both of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Melissa, Coy, Jeremy, and Robbie; and 3 great grandchildren, Shai-Lynn, Robert Dean, and Mya Nicole. She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Makayla Elizabeth, and several brothers and sisters. Services will be Thursday, February 21 at 10:30 A.M. at Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church, Lisbon with Elder Russell Hicks and Elder Morris Wicker officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery near Rome City. Visitation will be after 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, February 20 at the church with a 6:00 P.M. church service.
