Obituary

Elisabeth G. (Bower)Hodge, 90, of Wolcottville died Friday, June 29, 2007, at 2:30 a.m. in Miller's Merry Manor, LaGrange, Indiana. She had been in failing health for the past four weeks. Mrs. Hodge was the Clerk-Treasurer for the town of Wolcottville unitl she retired in 2004, and continued to work part time in an advisory capacity until four weeks ago. She and her husband were also the owners of Sanders Hardware in Wolcottville for 32 years. She was a Wolcottville High School graduate, and received an Associates Degree from International Business College. She was a member of the Wolcottville United Methodist Church, a patron member of the LaGrange Civic Theater, a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and twice named Clerk Treasurer of the Year for the State of Indiana. She was born February 4, 1917, in Helena, Montana, to Charles W. & Grace L. (Atwood) Bower. She married Donald L. Hodge on April 12, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Surviving are a daughter, Jane M. Feller of Wolcottville; two grandchildren, Dustin & Catherine Feller of Wolcottville and Andrea & Gabriel Martin of Chester, Virginia; and one great grandson, Dakota Evan Feller. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 12, 1986 and a sister, Clarissa O. Welch. The service will be Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at 3 p.m. at the Wolcottville United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery at Wolcottville. Casketbearers will be Alan Targgart, Todd Targgart, Brooks Targgart, Howard Hodge, Jim Hodge, Dennis Hodge, Don Welch, and Ray Paradowsky. Visitation will be Monday, July 2, 2007, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel. Preferred memorials are to the church or the LaGrange Civic Theater.
