Edna M. Barkey, 95, of Kendallville, Indiana died Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Chandler Place in Kendallville.
She was born December 6, 1929, in Sweetser, Grant County, Indiana to George Kenneth and Joy Maisel (Harreld) Bonner.
She had attended North Side High School in Fort Wayne.
On April 15, 1948, in Jalapa, Grant County, she married Harold D. Barkey. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1997.
She lived most of her life in Helmer, before moving to Kendallville in 1996.
She had worked at Sellick Department Store in Kendallville for 17 years and was the gift shop manager for 11 years at McCray Memorial Hospital in Kendallville before retiring in 1997.
Edna was a member of Helmer Community Church in Helmer.
She enjoyed QVC Shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Surviving are a son, Ken (Angie) Barkey of Marana, Arizona; four grandchildren, Justin (Krista) Barkey of Fortville, Amber (James) Grim of Mason, Ohio, Logan Emenhiser of Tucson, Arizona, and Landon (Destinee) Emenhiser of Tucson, Arizona; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn Barkey, Devon Mayne, Cora Grim, Adelle Grim, and Jessica Emenhiser.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Terry D. Barkey on January 11, 2023.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 13, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Helmer Community Church, 7530 South State Road 327, Hudson with Pastor Donna Holcomb officiating.
Edna's funeral service will also live stream on the Young Family Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 2 p.m. for those unable to attend in person.
Burial will follow in Fairfield Cemetery near Corunna.
Visitation will also be on Friday beginning at 12 Noon until the time of the funeral service at the church.
Young Family Funeral Home, Hudson-Ashley Chapel, 612 North Main Street, Hudson is assisting the family with arrangements.
