Edgell Terry, 63, of Rome City died Thursday, November 20, 2008, at 5:27 a.m. in Vanderbilt Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee, after a two-year illness.
Mr. Terry was retired from Dana in Fort Wayne where he was a journeyman welder. After retirement he worked in research and design for Storm Archery in Auburn. He was an inventor and held several patents. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served in Vietnam. He has lived most of his life in northern Indiana.
He was a member of the International Bowhunters Organization, the ASA, and United Auto Workers. He enjoyed bow hunting and spending time with family.
He was born February 11, 1945, in Kentucky to Shelby and Helen (Sawyer) Terry. On December 31, 1988, in Rome City he married Londa Earhart.
Surviving are his wife, Londa Terry of Rome City; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dawn & John Drewery of New Haven, Kathy & Greg Everage of LaGrange, and Bianca Terry, at home; a son, Alan Terry of Monroeville; a stepdaughter, Sally & Razvan Nistor of Rome City; two stepsons, Richard Woodin of Battle Creek, Michigan and Robert & Lisa Woodin of Mountain Home, Idaho; 22 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four sisters, Maudie Criswell of Kendallville, Shelbia Jean Millhouse of Albion, Ruby Gayheart of Wolcottville, and Jo Ann Haston of LaGrange; five brothers, Elmer Terry of Hunter Lake, Indiana, Bufford "Deke" Terry of Kendallville, Roy Terry of Wolcottville, Shelby Terry, Jr. of Wolcottville, and Glenn Terry of LaGrange.
He was preceded in death by his father, Shelby Terry; his mother, Helen Gibson; his stepfather, John Gibson; a brother, Randall Terry; and a sister, Mavis Terry.
Funeral services will be Monday, November 24, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville. Burial will be in Brushy Chapel Cemetery. Military graveside services will be provided by Rome City American Legion Post 381 and Kendallville VFW Post 2749.
Calling will be Sunday, November 23, 2008, from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and two hours prior to the service on Monday.
