Obituary

Eddie Blankenship, 77, of Wolcottville died Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 5:02 p.m. in his residence with his family at his side.

He was born February 17, 1940, in Floyd County, Kentucky, to William and Mattie (Moore) Blankenship.

On December 23, 1961, in Pikeville, Kentucky, he married Nevelene Newsome. She survives in Wolcottville.

Mr. Blankenship moved to this area in 1961, coming from Kentucky.

He retired after 36 years from Morgan Olson in Sturgis, Michigan.

Eddie enjoyed fishing, painting bird houses, and working puzzles. But, most of all, he dearly loved his grandkids.

Also surviving are a daughter, Patty Duty of Wolcottville; a son, Larry (Luckie Lackey) Blankenship of LaGrange; five grandchildren, Keith (Karen) Blankenship, Candace (Derek) Gayheart, Zack Wolf, Tabatha (Lee Prater) Parker, and JT Duty; 12 great-grandchildren, Terance, Lydia, Norman, Cameron, Allyssa, Zoe, Lucas, Angel, Greysen, Amelia, Gavin, and Lane; and a brother, Levi Blankenship of McDowell, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Henry Blankenship, Mitch Blankenship, Condy Blankenship, and Feddie Blankenship; seven sisters, Delphia Gayheart, Elsie Gayheart, Ellie Hamilton, Alley Wiley, Maxie Stambaugh, Annie Hamilton, and Tina Bolton; and three infant siblings that died at birth.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Elder Harvey Tuttle and Elder Morris Wicker of Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodruff Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Travis Blankenship, Ryan Blankenship, Keith Blankenship, JT Duty, Derek Gayheart, Lee Prater, and Terance Blankenship.

Calling is Tuesday, May 2, 2017, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home where there will be an evening service at 6 p.m. Calling will also be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
