Earl W. Rose, Sr., 89, of Avilla died Tuesday, July 25, 2017, in his residence.
He was born April 21, 1928, in Bloomington, Illinois, to Walter and Grace (Hale) Rose.
Mr. Rose resided in this area most of his life.
He retired as a maintenance superintendent from Newnam Foundry in Kendallville and farmed as a hobby.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church near Big Long Lake.
Surviving are three daughters, Pamela Aldrich of Avilla, Karen Miller of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Michele (Bart) Kleinrichert of Avilla; two sons, Earl Rose, Jr. of Wolcottville and Edward (Maureen) Rose, Sr. of Wolcottville; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and one great great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Stevens) Rose; his second wife, Velma Ensley Rose; three sisters, Helen Ream, Beulah Grate, and Judy Baird; and a brother, Donald Rose.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 10275 E 550 S, Hudson with Rev. James Elsner officiating. Burial will be in South Milford Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Felix Short and Tom Stoneburner. Active pallbearers are Tim Stutzman, Duffy Huff, Bart Kleinrichert, Charlie Rose, Edward Rose, Jr., Chris Rose, Brent Slone, and Scott Ensley.
Calling is Friday, July 28, 2017, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
