Obituary

Dr. Domingo Cruz-Diaz, Jr., 63, of Kendallville died Thursday, August 14, 2008, at 8:47 a.m. in Select Hospital, a part of St. Joseph Hospital, in Fort Wayne. He had been a patient at the hospital since the end of May.

Dr. Cruz attended the Medical School University of Puerto Rico. He moved to the states from Puerto Rico in 1971, coming to Kendallville in 1987. He has been on the staff of the Northeastern Center in Kendallville since 1987. He was a counsellor at the Pendleton Penitentiary in Pendleton, Indiana. He was a member of Gideon's International and Crosspointe Church in Kendallville.

He enjoyed music, and sang in a trio while living in Puerto Rico. He played the guitar with Lute and Reeds for many years in Kendallville.

He. was born November 17, 1944, in Humaeo, Puerto Rico, to Domingo Cruz-Diaz and Basilia Diaz. On June 14, 1969, in Puerto Rico, he married Ruth Reyes. His wife survives in Kendallville.

Also surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bary Cruz-Reyes and Nicole Cruz of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Noel and Kathy Cruz of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and Norman Cruz of Kendallville, and seven grandchildren, Carmen Cruz, Micah Cruz, Seth Cruz, Isaiah Cruz, Faith Cruz, Grace Cruz, and Jonathan Cruz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Matheline Cruz-Diaz.

Funeral services will be Sunday, August 17, 2008, at 5:00 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Rev. Ken Weaver and Rev. Kevin Sneed.

Calling will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
