Douglas Osgood, 91, of Wolcottville died Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at his residence.
He was born April 16, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, to Harry D. and Mary Beth (Fraiser) Osgood.
He graduated from the Royal Oak High School in Royal Oak, Michigan, and Michigan State in East Lansing, Michigan, where he earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
Mr. Osgood served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1947.
On June 29, 1948, in Michigan, he married Johanna J. Mouw.
He worked with his father at the Harry & Doug Osgood Company in Royal Oak, Michigan, a general contracting company.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church at Wolcottville.
Surviving are his wife, Johanna J. Osgood who resides at Lutheran Life Village in Kendallville; a son, David Osgood of Wolcottville; and four daughters, Mary Hood of Wolcottville, Wendy Osgood of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Kimberley Kurzava of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Leslie Blythe of Indianapolis; a daughter-in-law, Judy Osgood-Bowman of Maricopa, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Collin Hood, Faith Hood, Jeremy Hood, Adam Osgood, Jordan Osgood, Olivia Osgood, and Wesley Osgood; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter Wappelhorst and Hadley Osgood.
He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Osgood; a brother, Donald Osgood; a sister Joan Chute; and a granddaughter, Mindy Hood.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2955 E 700 S, Wolcottville with Chaplain Mike Wakeland of Lutheran Life Villages officiating.
Honor guard services will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard and active duty members of the U.S. Navy.
Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
