Obituary

Dorothy May Targgart, 96, of Wolcottville died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at 2:20 p.m. in the Chandler House in Kendallville, where she had been a resident for the past year. She was born November 14,1910, in Benton, Elkhart County, Indiana, to Melvin & Maude (Huff) Hodge. She married Richard Henry Targgart on March 10, 1934, in Rome City, Indiana. They moved to Wolcottville in 1937, where they were the owners of Wolcottville Printing, Inc. from 1937 to 1975. She was a member of the Wolcottville United Methodist Church, the Wolcottville Women's Community Club, and the Rome City American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Duane & Alta Targgart of Kendallville; five grandchildren, Alan & Anita Targgart, Todd & Renee Targgart, Brooks & Heidi Targgart, James & Lori Garver, and Debra & Bruce Gulley; 13 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard on October 2, 1989; a daughter, Carolyn Bickley on October 30, 1989; a sister, Helen Grabill; and four brothers, George Hodge, Donald Hodge, Ivan Hodge, and Howard Hodge. Services will be Thursday, July 12, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel with Rev. Jack Thomas of the Wolcottville United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Wolcottville. Casketbearers will be Marvin Grabill, Dean Grabill, Dennis Hodge, Gordon Hodge, Howard Hodge and Jim Hodge. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 11, 2007, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Wolcottville United Methodist Church.
