Obituary

Dorothy L. Powers, 87, of Kendallville died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at 11:03 a.m. in Kendallville Manor HealthCare Center.

Mrs. Powers had lived in Kendallville prior to moving to Fort Wayne in 1972. In 2000, she moved back to the Kendallville area.

She was born June 20, 1921, in Elkhart to Levi and Mary (Shultz) McClelland. On December 25, 1937, in Auburn, she married Oved M. Powers. He preceded her in death in 1999.

Surviving are three daughers and a son-in-law, Demaris Powers of Kendallville, Barbara Powers of Kendallville, and Pamela and Richard Jenkins of Kendallville; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Carmen Powers of Ligonier; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and two close friends, Deborah Beaty and Charlene Benjamin, both of Kendallville.

She was preceded in death by a great great grandchild, two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at 12 noon at New Life Tabernacle, 609 Patty Lane, Kendallville with Pastor James Archambeault officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Fort Wayne.

Casketbearers will be David McClellan, Kody Hogge, Kenny Hogge, Richard Jenkins, Matthew Jenkins, and Chad McCoy

Calling is one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is in charge of arrangements.
