Calling: Thursday, February 20, 2014 - 4 to 7 p.m. in the church and one hour prior to services on Friday *************************************************************************** Dorothy Eileen Cook, 92, of Adams Lake died Monday, February 17, 2014, at 7 p.m. in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville.
She moved to this area in 1940, coming from Fort Wayne. For the past five years, Dorothy resided and was a part of the family at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville.
Mrs. Cook was secretary at the Wolcottville High School. She also worked at Farmers State Bank in Wolcottville, LaGrange, Topeka, and Stroh.
She attended the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church.
Dorothy played violin in the Southside High School orchestra in Fort Wayne, where she was a National Honor Society member. She attended International Business College. She loved to do needlepoint, cross stitch, and knitting. Dorothy made a friend of everyone she met.
She was born May 13, 1921, in Portland to Alonzo W. and Dottie Dell (Votaw) Hall.
On October 5, 1940, in LaGrange she married John E. Cook. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2008.
Surviving are a daughter, Jonquil Vincent of Gambrills, Maryland; a son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Becky Cook of Adams Lake; a son-in-law, Tom Atkins of Royer Lake; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Miller of Waynedale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Atkins; two sons, John A. Cook and Jerry Cook; and a sister, Rubybell Hall.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 21, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. in the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. David Mathews officiating. Burial will be in the Woodruff Cemetery.
Calling is Thursday, February 20, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the church and one hour prior to services on Friday.
Preferred memorials are to Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville.
Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
