Doris Elizabeth Mefferd, 88, of Kendallville, Indiana, died Thursday July 28, 2022. She was born on January 6, 1934, in South Milford, Indiana, to Ralph and Ruth (Babcock) Lee. On April 18, 1954, at the South Milford United Methodist Church in South Milford she married Gerald L. Mefferd, Sr. He preceded her in death on March 10, 2013. They were honored to enjoy 58 years together. Mrs. Mefferd, along with her husband, founded Kendallville Auto Parts on Main Street in Kendallville in 1973, operating the store for 50 years where she was secretary. She was a member of Trinity Church United Methodist in Kendallville. Surviving are a son, Gerald L. (Sharon Miller) Mefferd, Jr. of Rome City; three daughters, Victoria Elizabeth (Clint) Wease of Salcha, Alaska, Toni Lee Michaud of Anchorage, Alaska, and Melinda Mae Duehmig of Louisville, Kentucky; and ten grandchildren, Dawn Clauson and Gilbert Mefferd both of Kendallville, Kelly Hecker, Ralph Wease, Jake (Amanda) Wease, Jason Michaud, Kacie Michaud, and John (Kaitlin) Michaud all of Alaska, Shauna (Greg) Lauyans and Derek Duehmig both of Louisville, Kentucky. Doris was also blessed with 18 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Linda Netzinger of Wisconsin. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Lee. Doris was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind a legacy of beautiful memories. According to Doris' wishes there will be no visitation or services.
