Obituary

Donald Ray Skaggs, 61, of New Haven and formerly of Brimfield died Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Majestic Care Nursing Home in New Haven.

He was born July 12, 1959, in Kendallville to Junior Ray and Ethel Irene (Ritchie) Skaggs.

Mr. Skaggs worked as an auto mechanic and did body and paint work for Montoya's Custom's and Paint in Kendallville.

Donald enjoyed building and painting muscle cars.

Surviving are two daughters, Katie (Kenny Bardon) Skaggs of Wolcottville and Mandy Skaggs of Wolcottville; a son, Michael Combs of Kentucky; two grandchildren; two sisters, Shelia Ann Slone of Kentucky and Pamela Sue (Wayne) Skaggs of Fort Wayne; and three brothers, Tony (Kitty) Skaggs of Brimfield, Burnas Joe (Peggy) Skaggs of Rome City, and Larry Wayne Skaggs of Topeka.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Tammy Ard; and two brothers, Denver Curtis Skaggs and Ronald Lee Skaggs.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 2 p.m. at New Freedom Baptist Church, 300 Sycamore Street, LaGrange with Pastor Wade Sturdivant officiating.

Donald's funeral service on Tuesday will also live stream on the Young Family Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 2 p.m. for those unable to attend in person.

Burial will follow in Orange Cemetery near Rome City.

Pallbearers are T.J. Skaggs, Denny Skaggs, Burnas Skaggs, Brayden Skaggs, Skylar Skaggs, and Darin Skaggs.

Visitation is Tuesday, June 29, 2021, from noon to 2 p.m. at the church.

Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
