Obituary

On Saturday, December 19, 2020, we lost our mother, Marjorie June Maxted, 81, of Angola at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. As all who knew her, we know our mother probably has a switch in her left hand chasing after Scott Boger for leaving us so soon, playing cards with her previous husbands, Jerald Kistler, John Compton and brother, Oscar Sweet who passed before her, passing the love of the family to Mel Miller, dancing to the oldies with Barry and Sheryl, sharing stories of living survivors with Joel Lynn and all of our other family who have left us too soon, or is managing our Lord and Savior's office. She was a lover of Lucille Ball, Jerry Lewis, and Robin Williams (maybe you'll finally meet them, Mama), Nancy Drew books, Pink Panther, Wonder Woman, Ohio State and her cats.

She was born July 15, 1939, in Bowling Green, Ohio, to Archie Kenneth Sweet and Pauline Ruth (Nelson) Sweet Cruz.

Her husband, Donald Clyde Maxted, 71, of Angola died Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He was born August 24, 1949, in Lansing, Michigan, to Benjamin and Elsie (Akin) Maxted.

Marjorie and Donald were married October 15, 2005, in Ashley.

They both worked at Bracie Homes in Angola. Marjorie was the bookkeeper and Donald worked in maintenance.

Donald honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1984.

Marjorie was a member of the York Church of Christ in Fremont. Donald was a member of American Legion Post 31 in Angola.

Surviving are five daughters, Donijun (Ray) Preston of Kendallville, Cappie Fifer of Fort Wayne, Jeanine Kistler of Auburn, Taleda Brenner of Alma, Michigan, and Pepper (Chris) Near of Michigan; seven sons, Ed (Chris) Gillespie of Albion, Guy Compton of Hamilton, Joel Kistler of St. Joe, Jeff (Kathy) Kistler of Indiana, Jon Kistler of Pleasant Lake, Wes Middaugh of Alma, Michigan, and Donny (Heather) Brooks of Michigan; 40 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four fur babies, Little Bit, Paco, Spook, and Tigra.

Also surviving is Marjorie's sister, Virginia (Bill) Smith of Delaware; and Donald's sister, Yvonne Cochran of Florida; and two brothers, Bill Cole and Phil (Colleen) Cole, both of Lansing, Michigan.

Marjorie was preceded in death by former husbands, John Compton and Jerry Kistler; a son, Scott Boger; a grandson, Joel Lynn Kistler; and a brother, Oscar Kenneth Sweet.

Donald was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Maxted; and his twin brother, David Maxted.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville. Burial will follow at Flint Cemetery.

Marjorie and Donald's funeral service on Wednesday will also live stream on the Young Family Funeral Home Facebook page for those unable to attend in person.
