Obituary

Dennis James "Buzz" Vanhoozer, 60, of LaGrange died Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 9 a.m. at the residence of his daughter, Carrie Vanhoozer in LaGrange following a lengthy illness.

He was a lifetime area resident.

Mr. Vanhoozer had worked at Mastercraft in LaGrange and had previously worked at Starcraft in Topeka, Redman in Topeka, and Viking in Middlebury.

Buzz enjoyed fishing, hunting, and tying flies.

He was born May 6, 1957, in Kendallville to Shirley Hamilton Vanhoozer and Ruby Hicks.

On July 16, 1977, in Wolcottville, he married Shelby Jean Combs. She survives in LaGrange.

Also surviving are a daughter, Carrie Marie (Mike Lewis) Vanhoozer of LaGrange; two sons, Billy Joe Vanhoozer of LaGrange and Dennis James Vanhoozer, Jr. of LaGrange; five grandchildren, Bonnie Louise (Aaron James Vassau) Vanhoozer of LaGrange, Brookelyn Nikole Jordan of LaGrange, Mark Dennis James Jordan of LaGrange, Aaron Edward Jordan, Jr. of LaGrange, and Payton James Vanhoozer of Wolcottville; a great-grandson, Jencyn William James Vassau; two sisters, Shelia Lana Keene of Kendallville and Sharon Rae New of Garrett; and two brothers, Shirley David Vanhoozer of Wolcottville and Duane Allen Vanhoozer of Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Billy Darrel Vanhoozer and Danny Ray Vanhoozer.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Pastor Larry Anglemyer, Sr. of Hilltop Baptist Church in Rome City officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.

Pallbearers will be Billy Vanhoozer, Dennis Vanhoozer, Jr., Mike Lewis, Aaron Vassau, Carrie Vanhoozer, and Roger K. New, Jr.

Calling is Tuesday, May 16, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
