Delmer Clayton Sutton, 69, of South Milford died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at 10:25 a.m. in his residence.
Mr. Sutton lived in this area since the age of three. He operated the Texaco gas station and owned and operated a used car lot both in South Milford. He retired from Dalton Foundry in Kendallville.
He was a member of the Hudson United Brethren Church.
He was born May 28, 1942, in Hindman, Kentucky to Joe and Ella Mae (Perkins) Sutton. On March 23, 1964, in South Milford he married Bonnie Jean Price. She survives in South Milford.
Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Lynn and Richard Henschen of Wolcottville; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Clayton Sutton of Kendallville, Troy and Dawn Sutton of South Milford, and Ronnie L. Sutton of South Milford; five grandchildren, Phyllis Burkhead of Kendallville, Sarah Shepherd of Auburn, Destynie Bellinger of South Milford, Dillon Henschen of Wolcottville, and Breanda Sutton of Kendallville; and three great grandchildren, Crystal Burkhead, Johnathon Muzzillo, and Nicholas Niman.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Imogene Owens and Geneva Fink, and a brother, Elmer Sutton.
Funeral services will be Monday, at 2:30 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Craig Burkholder of the Hudson United Brethren Church and Pastor Lee Combs of Community Baptist Church, Wolcottville officiating. Burial will be in South Milford Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Sutton, Richard Henschen, Dillon Henschen, Roger Vinson, Carl Combs, and Gary Hammon. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Sutton, Troy Sutton, Ed Perkins, Jr. Sheley, Jim Duty, and Jerry Pearson.
Calling is Sunday, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Monday.
Preferred memorials are to Parkview Noble Home Health & Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
