David Lee Zawadzke, 90, of LaGrange, Indiana, and formerly of Blackman Lake, Wolcottville, and Ligonier died Monday, January 8, 2024, at Life Care Center of LaGrange.

He was born October 20, 1933, in Kendallville to Paul and Wilda (Kreischer) Zawadzke.

On May 19, 1956, in Albion he married Bertha J. Gorsuch. She proceeded him in death on August 24, 2022.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. He served aboard the U.S.S. Chickasaw during the Korean War.

After many years of dedicated service with Monsanto he retired as a maintenance superintendent.

David dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and his wife spent many years camping at Grand View Bend near Howe, and they loved every minute of their time there.

Surviving are three daughters, Kay (John) McGinn of Prudenville, Michigan, Teresa (Craig) Wells of Wolcottville, and Karla (Wayne) Wilczewski of LaPorte; two sons, Mike (Twila) Zawadzke of Albion and Steve Zawadzke of Wolcottville; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and a brother, Tom Zawadzke of Tennessee.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Zawadzke, Jr., Harold Zawadzke, and John Zawadzke.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Chaplain Ken Weaver of Parkview Hospice officiating.

Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell.

Honor guard services will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation is Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

David 's funeral service on Thursday will also live stream on the Young Family Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 12:30 p.m. for those unable to attend.
