Obituary

David Weingartner, 51 of Dayton, Ohio, and formerly of Fort Wayne died Thursday, July 24, 2008, in Dayton.

Mr. Weingartner graduated from Bishop Dwenger High School and IPFW in Fort Wayne with a Bachelor's Degree in Music. During college, he studied music for one year in Vienna. He was raised in Fort Wayne, lived a year in Elkhart, then moved to Ohio in the mid 1980's. At one time, he owned a pipe organ business in Springboro, Ohio. He currently worked at St. John Lutheran Church in Dayton and played the organ for church services. He played the organ for the home games of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team and at one time played with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.

He was born February 26, 1957, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Donald Charles and Joan Rita (Bickel) Weingartner. His father preceded him in death on September 28, 1997.

Surviving are his mother, Joan R. Weingartner of Wolcottville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and John Riley of LaGrange, Rita and Jim Zuber of Fort Wayne, and Rose and Neil Klingaman of Columbia City; one brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Rachel Weingartner of St. Joe; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 9, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City, with Father Bernard Ramenaden officiating. Burial will be in St. Gaspar Catholic Cemetery.

Calling will be one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorial services will also be Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church in Dayton, Ohio, with Rev. Jeffrey Campbell officiating.

Preferred memorials are masses to St. Gaspar Catholic Church, 10871 N SR 9, Rome City, Indiana, 46784 or to the organ fund at St. John's Lutheran Church, 141 South Ludlow Street, Dayton, Ohio, 45402.

Arrangements are by Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville, Indiana.
