David Lee Siples, 60, of Kendallville died Sunday, January 15, 2012, in his residence.
He was a lifetime area resident. He graduated from East Noble High School in 1971, where he participated in football, wrestling, and track.
David was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam era.
He was a truck driver, having worked for Hudson Trucking and Tennessee Steel Haulers.
David was born May 6, 1951, in Auburn to Dale Eugene and Elsie Elizabeth (Wertman) Siples.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Adam Powers of Wawaka; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Amber Siples of Wolcottville and Daniel and Courtney Siples of Kendallville; his mother, Elsie Tallent of Arkansas; and three sisters, Terry and Scott Showen of Kendallville, Judy and Larry Ober of Albion, and Billie and Harry Swick of Wolcottville.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 20, 2012, at 2 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. Robert Muller of Restoration Lutheran Church in Kendallville officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery near Rome City. Honor guard services will be provided by Kendallville VFW Post 2749, American Legion Post 381; and active duty members of the U.S. Army.
Calling is Friday from noon to 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the family.
