IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Lee
Schenher
December 3, 1941 – January 18, 2020
David Lee Schenher, 78, of Kendallville died Saturday, January 18, 2020, at his residence. He moved to this area in October, 2015, coming from Fort Wayne.
He was born December 3, 1941, in Fort Wayne to Paul Michael and Mary Lucille (Reuille) Schenher.
Mr. Schenher honorably served in the U.S. Navy from May 1, 1961, to April 30, 1965.
He retired as a process engineer from International Harvester/Navistar.
David was proud of his years of service to Navistar and enjoyed playing on their tennis team. As an avid reader and a lover of history, he read all he could about the history of the United States, Europe, and the world with a particular emphasis on religious history. David was passionate about basketball, especially I.U. and Indiana high school basketball, where he kept up with stats about high school teams and players throughout the state. He also enjoyed baseball and fishing. When searching for a place to vacation near the ocean, he always looked to see if he would be within walking distance to a beach.
Surviving are a daughter, Diana (Tim) Crisler of Fort Wayne; a son, Mark Allen (Kelly) Schenher of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Holli (Rob) Lowe, Emily (Corey Wright) Crisler, Brittney Schenher, Katie Crisler, and Madison Crisler; one great-grandson, Henry Lowe; and a sister, Bonnie (Dave) Griffith of Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Neuhaus.
There will be no visitation or services.
Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery.
Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
