Obituary

David McFarlin,Sr. 92, of Kendallville died Friday, December 17, 2010, at 5:30 a.m. in Kendallville Manor HealthCare Center where he had resided for two years.

Mr. McFarlin was a farmer and had worked at Newnam Foundry in Kendallville for over 20 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II.

He was born May 20, 1918, in Ashland, Kentucky to John C. and Sarah McFarlin. On August 9, 1941, in Kendallville he married Hilda Mae Smith. She preceded him in death on July 8, 1966. In 1971, he married Ora Spitler in South Milford. She preceded him in death in 2001.

Surviving are a daughter, Esther Hollar of Kendallville; a stepson, Bruce (Dixie) Spitler of Hudson; two granddaughters, Michelle Rendon of Lafayette, and Shawn Dunafin of LaGrange; a grandson, Michael McFarlin of Glasgow, Kentucky; and seven great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Raymond Hollar, a granddaughter, Dawn Hollar; a son, David McFarlin, Jr.; four brothers; and seven sisters.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at 12 Noon in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville. Military graveside services will be provided by active duty members of the U.S. Army.

Arrangements are by Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
