Obituary

David Michael Marter, 71, of Rome City, Indiana, died Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

He was born July 19, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to George Michael and Evelyn Josephine (Many) Marter.

Mr. Marter honorably served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He then worked as a correctional officer at the Plainfield Prison in Plainfield for 17 ½ years.

He was a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, Maggie Marter of Rome City; three daughters, Jenny Reynolds of Ridgecrest, California, Becky Rose of Ridgecrest, California, and Janet Lundberg of Elkhart; a son, Michael Marter of Wolcottville; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph (Tisha) Marter of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Kathryn Anne Marter and Peggy Marter; and a brother, Dennis Marter.

There will be no visitation or services.

Mr. Marter's ashes will be spread at sea by the U.S. Navy.

Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
