Obituary

David Clell Marcum, 87, of Ligonier died Friday, March 16, 2018, at his residence.

He was born August 1, 1930, in Pike, Kentucky, to Rev. Henry and Gertrude (McCloud) Marcum.

On April 16, 1960, in Belo, West Virginia, he married Mary E. Starr. She survives in Ligonier.

Mr. Marcum served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years.

He moved to this area on June 13, 1967, coming from Great Lakes, Illinois.

After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he worked at Monsanto and Silgan Plastics in Ligonier where he served as a union steward.

He was a member of the West Noble American Legion Post 243 and the Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics and Allied Workers International Union #229.

Also surviving are three daughters, Elizabeth Sue Parker of Fort Wayne, Cathy Gail (Robert) Bright of Austin, and Sandra Ann Hartman of Ligonier; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters and a grandchild.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 709 Johnson Street, Ligonier with Pastor Jimmy Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier.

Honor guard services will be provided by West Noble American Legion Post 243 and active duty members of the U.S. Navy.

Calling will be Tuesday, March 20, 2018, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the church.
