Obituary

Daniel W. Cass, Jr., 85, of Sylvan Lake, Rome City died Monday, December 12, 2011, in his residence.

He retired as plant manager from Electric Cords in Wolcottville. He also worked in maintenance at the Limberlost Golf Club in Rome City.

Mr. Cass served in the U.S. Marine Corps. during World War II in North China and Korea.

He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 381, Rome City; VFW Post 2749, Kendallville; DAV; China Marine Association; and the Chosin Few.

He was born March 20, 1926, in Painesville, Ohio, to Daniel W. Cass, Sr. and Lucille (Cottrel) Cass. On December 20, 1982, in Wolcottville he married Betty Lou Prater.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Lou Cass of Rome City; a daughter, Diane Kelham of Bluff City, Tennessee; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne Andrew and Becky Cass of Lansing, Michigan; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Bower of East Aurora, New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister

Graveside services will be held at Orange Cemetery, Rome City on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at 2 p.m. with Chaplain David Fiandt of American Legion Post 381 officiating. Military graveside services will be provided by American Legion Post 381, VFW Post 2749, and active duty members of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Casketbearers will be American Legion Post 381 members: Tom Hulen, Richard Guilfoyle, John McIlroy, Randy Page, Fred Dubois, and Don Wilsey.

There will be no visitation.

Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
