IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dana Marie
Homister
July 16, 1940 – December 14, 2024
Our dear mother, Dana Marie Homister, residing in Winamac, Indiana, with her daughter, sadly passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the age of 84. She was surrounded by her family as she left this world and passed into the presence of God.
Dana was born on July 16, 1940, in Hindman, Kentucky, to the late Boyd and Edna (Holliday) Dixon.
She moved to Rome City in 1952 where she was a homemaker, a babysitter to many grandchildren, and a prayer warrior. She was a member of the Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church in Lisbon since 1976.
Her favorite past time was playing Yahtzee with her daughter, Jackie. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. She loved her family and loved every moment she spent with them. She was strong, patient, selfless, and endeared by many.
She is survived by her children and many loving family members, including Audrey Coomer of Elwood, Brenda (Joe Pagley) VanHalst of Churubusco, Homeretta (Brett) Faulkner of Winamac, Tim (Jamie) Fugate of Wawaka, Jackie (Jose) Rodriguez of Elkhart, Glen (Carolyn Gibson) Ard of Kendallville, Teresa Wade of Kendallville; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry (Sue) Dixon of Kendallville and Ryan Dixon of Florida; three stepchildren; and five step grandchildren.
Dana joins her parents; a daughter, Crystal Homister; granddaughter, Tiffany Faulkner; great-grandson, Jaylan Wilson; stepson, Riley Homister; two sons-in-law, Jonathan VanHalst and John Coomer; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Ard; and five brothers, Bryan Dixon, Steve Dixon, Glen Dixon, Lee Dixon, and an infant brother.
Now that mom has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of her physical life on earth, it is the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her with Jesus. She is waiting for her children on the other side of the river.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church in Lisbon where an evening service will be held at 6 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the church with Elder Elstille Hamilton and home Elders of the church officiating.
Burial will follow at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.
Pallbearers will be Isais Homister, Alex Homister, Kaleb Homister, Trent Faulkner, Travis Faulkner, Michael VanHalst, Shawn Ard, Skylar Fugate, Cory Wade, and Javar Wilson.
Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
