Calling: Wednesday, August 6, 2014 - 2 to 8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel ************************************************************************************ Dale Handshoe, 76, of Wawaka died Friday, August 1, 2014, at 3:25 p.m. in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
He had lived in this area since the age of 17, coming from Michigan.
Mr. Handshoe worked as a superintendent at Newnam and Lane Foundries in Kendallville. He retired from Burnworth Zollers in Ligonier in 2000.
He was born December 4, 1937, in Hueysville, Kentucky, to Coett and Hazel (Bailey) Handshoe.
On October 28, 1977, in Sturgis, Michigan, he married Mary Jane (Carper) Bruce. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2011.
Surviving are three daughters, Cheryl Wonderly of Kendallville, Debra (Joseph) Halsey of Albion, and Tammy (Carroll "Punk") Altimus of Wawaka; a son, Allen Handshoe of Albion; two stepsons, George E. (Joni) Bruce of Largo, Florida, and Harold Bruce of Wolcottville; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bessie Shepherd of Hoagland, and Donna Handshoe of Maryland; and seven brothers, Truman Handshoe of Kentucky, Jay Handshoe of Kentucky, Blaine Handshoe of Kentucky, Vaughn Handshoe of Kentucky, Ross Handshoe of Kendallville, Glee Handshoe of Texas, and Stanley Handshoe of Florida.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Irene Stephenson; and a brother, Doyle Handshoe.
Graveside services will be at Orange Cemetery, Rome City, on Thursday, August 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Vaughn Handshoe officiating.
Pallbearers will be Justin Edmonds, John Edmonds, David Altimus, Skip Altimus, Carroll "Punk" Altimus, and Joseph Halsey.
Calling is Wednesday, August 6, 2014, from 2 to 8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.
