Obituary

Dale F. Gordon, 82, of Avilla, Indiana died Friday, July 31, 2026, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville.

He was born May 28, 1944, in Churubusco to Alpheus Abraham and Ruth Matilda (Roberson) Gordon.

Dale had been a welder with Advance Mixer and Indiana Pheonix. He was also a farmer.

He found joy in farming, gardening, woodworking, and listening to oldies music, especially the songs of Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. A devoted Green Bay Packers fan, Dale also cherished time spent with his family and the simple pleasures of country life.

Above all, Dale was a faithful man of God, a loving provider, and a steadfast supporter of his family. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, unwavering faith, generous heart, and the love he shared with those around him.

Surviving are nine children, Trena Gordon of Columbia City, Danielle (Daniel) White of Middleburg, Kevin (Chasity) Gordon of Lancaster, Kentucky, Florida, Eric Gordon of Roanoke, Adam (Elizabeth) Gordon of East Lake, Ohio, Alyssa Wade of Fort Wayne, Andrea (Austin) Magnuson of Albion, Aimee (Taylor) Kistel of Butler, and Andrew (Sydney) Gordon of Columbia City; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Phil Gordon of Columbia City; and his mother-in-law, Dorene Storch of Hamler, Ohio.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; four children, Dennis Gordon, Lorilee Ward, and infants Aaron Gordon, and Amanda Gordon; five siblings, Lee Reinewald, Martha Pettigrew, Grace Ewald, Wayne Gordon, and Don Gordon; and his father-in-law, Richard Storch.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 10, 2026, at 12 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Kevin Gordon officiating.
