Craig Martin Bottjer, 54, of Kendallville died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at his residence.
He had lived in Indiana since 1975, coming from New York. He was a 1982 graduate of Central Noble High School in Albion.
Mr. Bottjer was employed by Kendallville Iron and Metal as an equipment operator.
He was a member of the Northeast Indiana Gas and Steam Club and the Northern Indiana Garden Tractor Club.
Craig enjoyed refurbishing garden tractors and farm equipment. He collected railroad lanterns and service manuals for vehicles and tractors.
He was born May 19, 1962, in Oceanside, New York, to Henry and Joanne (Campbell) Bottjer.
On October 11, 1986, he married Pam S. Mapes. She survives in Kendallville.
Also surviving are two daughters, Erin (Andrew) Strunk of Avilla and Elizabeth Bottjer of Avilla; a son, Nathan (Stacey) Bottjer of Avilla; eight grandchildren, Ashley Bottjer, Lillian Bottjer, Maddison Bottjer, Aiden Strunk, Jade Strunk, Nikkolas Osborn, Carolyn Osborn, and Charolette Bottjer; and a brother, Cris Bottjer of San Diego, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Heidi Bottjer.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 25, 2016, at 4 p.m. in Crosspointe Family Church of the Nazarene, 205 Highpointe Crossing, Kendallville with Pastor Rich Secor officiating.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 25, 2016, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church.
Preferred memorials are to Crosspointe Family Church of the Nazarene for their Wednesday evening services.
Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
