Cordus Wallen, 92, of Rome City, died Monday, December 3, 2012, in his residence.

He had lived in this area since 1952, coming from Kentucky.

Mr. Wallen served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a farmer. He also worked on the railroad and retired from Federal Seals in Kendallville.

He was born August 17, 1920, in Garrett, Kentucky, to Floyd and Lyda (Conley) Wallen. On April 26, 1946, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, he married Flora Allen. She preceded him in death on June 24, 1991.

Surviving are a niece he raised, Glenna Miller of Goshen; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Hadney Clevenger of Ligonier and Annalean and Ed Perkins of Kendallville.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Corga Wallen and Burley Wallen; and four sisters, Janivee Sawyer, Beatrice Bailey, Yvonne Jones, and Maxine "Mackie" Wallen.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 6, 2012, at 1 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Rev. Glen Patrick officiating. Burial will be in Brushy Chapel Cemetery.

Honor guard services will be provided by Kendallville VFW Post 2749, Rome City American Legion Post 381, and active duty members of the U.S. Army.
