Constance L. "Connie" Martinez, 78, of Kendallville, Indiana, died Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Kendallville Manor in Kendallville.

She was born December 27, 1945, in Jackson, Michigan, to Edward G. and Marjorie A. (Fiero) Higgins.

Ms. Martinez had lived in Clay City, Indiana, and Frankfort, Indiana, before moving to Kendallville.

She was a factory worker and a certified nurse assistant, providing home health care.

Connie was an avid fan of NASCAR and especially Jeff Gordon. She enjoyed puzzle books and watching Little House on the Prairie, Criminal Minds, and Law and Order on television.

Surviving are three sons, Kevin Arthur (Kerri) Martinez of Kendallville, Brian Anthony Martinez of Brainerd, Minnesota, and Mark Christopher (Michele) Martinez of Kendallville; a daughter, Michele (John Jordan) Whitaker of Kendallville; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and a brother, Gary Higgins of Kendalville.

She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Jacob Martinez; two brothers, Patrick Higgins and Terry Higgins; and a sister, Carol Emery.

A celebration of life service is being planned for a later date.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
