Obituary

Clyde Blankenship, 71, of Wolcottville died Friday, July 23, 2010, at 11:10 p.m. in his residence.

Mr. Blankenship had lived in the area for 52 years, coming from Ohio. He was a truck driver, and a member of Community Baptist Church near Wolcottville.

He was born August 8, 1939, in Hazard, Kentucky, to Claude and Edith (Fuller) Blankenship.

Surviving are his wife, Virgie Blankenship of Kendallville; a daughter, Tonja Mezquitan of Wolcottville; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Rhonda Blankenship of LaGrange; three grandchildren, Justin Blankenship of Wolcottville, Alex Mezquitan of Wolcottville, and Jessica Mezquitan of Wolcottville; and a great grandson, Mason Blankenship of Kendallville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Grace Conley; and a brother, Shelby Gilbert.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Five Corners Baptist Church, Wolcottville with Pastor Clarence Combs and Pastor Lee Combs officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Justin Blankenship, Tim Blankenship, Alex Mezquitan, Ronnie Short, and Gary Gilbert.

Calling is Tuesday, July 27, 2010, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the church where there will be an evening service at 6 p.m.

Preferred memorials are to the family.
