Pastor Clifford E. Tanner, Jr., 62, of Garrett, Indiana, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ unexpectedly while preaching his final sermon at Independent Full Gospel Church in Ashley Sunday evening, July 20, 2025.

He was born February 7, 1963, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Clifford E. Tanner, Sr. and Elizabeth A. (Imbody) Tanner.

On March 26, 2016, at Moose Lake Christian Village in LaOtto, he married Julie Cline.

Cliff loved God and his many mission trips. He also enjoyed covering racing on speed talk radio and sports writing.

Surviving are his wife, Julie Tanner of Garrett; three daughters, Stephanie Tanner of Fort Wayne, Sarah Tanner of Fort Wayne, and Alexandra Tanner of Fort Wayne; three sons, Jeff (Nicole) Landis of Fort Wayne, Dustin LaMartz of Kendallville and Dylan LaMartz of Kendallville; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his mother, Elizabeth A. Tanner of Fort Wayne; a sister, Pamela S. (Daniel) Burget of Avilla; and three brothers, Dean A. (Angelina) Tanner, Sr. of Avilla, Patrick C. (Mischelle) Tanner of Churubusco, and Kevin D. (Scheryl) Tanner of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford E. Tanner, Sr.; a brother, Carl E. Tanner; and a niece, Kristi Tanner.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral services on Thursday all at Independent Full Gospel Church, 1302 South Gonser Avenue, Ashley.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 12 p.m. at the church with Pastor John Maloney of Faith Alive Church in Kendallville officiating.

Burial will follow at Christian Union Cemetery near Garrett.
