Obituary

Cledis Handshoe, 76, of Hudson went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 21, 2015, at 12:54 p.m. in Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville.

He moved to this area in 1964, coming from Ohio.

He had worked at Newnam Foundry in Kendallville and retired from Gruman Olson in Sturgis, Michigan in 1988.

Cledis loved to fish and hunt, and family was his pride and joy.

He was born December 26, 1938, in Handshoe, Kentucky to Floyd and Pearlie (Green) Handshoe.

He married the love of his life, Maxine Hicks on July 5, 1957, in Ohio.

Surviving are his wife, Maxine Handshoe of Hudson; a son, Alvin (Donna) Handshoe of LaGrange; three daughters, Arlene (Larry) Smith of LaGrange, Diana (Steve) Vanderpool of LaGrange, and Veronica (Gary) Shepherd of Angola; 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Eric, Amy, Tonya, Kristen, Sabrina, Heather, Michael, Ashley, and Allen; 20 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Johnny (Linda) Handshoe of LaGrange, Hershel (Margaret) Handshoe of Hueysville, Kentucky, Buford (Gaynell) Handshoe of Hueysville, Kentucky, Arnold Handshoe of Hueysville, Kentucky, and Thurman Handshoe of Helmer; two sisters, Gertrude (Bill) McClish of South Milford and Reva Livergood of Auburn.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Edward Handshoe and Douglas Handshoe; two daughters, Tammy Sue Handshoe and Debra Lynn Handshoe; grandson, Jamie Smith; his parents, Floyd Handshoe, Pearlie (Green) Handshoe, and Dollie (Griffith) Handshoe; two brothers, Daniel Handshoe and Herman Handshoe; and four infant siblings, David, Sam, Dorothy, and Tilda.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. Carl Ritchie officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.

Casketbearers will be Eric Milliman, Christopher Vanderpool, Eric Smith, Michael Handshoe, Allen Smith, Dakota Muller, Dylan Muller, and Johnny Handshoe.

Calling is Monday, August 24, 2015, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
