Obituary

Reverend Clarence L. Combs, 63, of Wolcottville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 10, 2018, with his loved ones by his side.

He was born July 2, 1955, in LaGrange to Reverend Leburn "Lee" and Lucenia (Moore) Combs.

On November 24, 1973 in a small church in South Milford, Clarence married the love of his life, Judy Gibson. With inspiring devotion, he followed his calling to become a minister in 1979. Clarence served the Lord as an evangelist, traveling near and far to spread a message of hope. In 1987, he answered the call to become the pastor at Five Corners Baptist Church in Wolcottville.

He was a 1973 graduate of Lakeland High School. He received his Doctorate's Degree in Ministry, Master's Degree in Ministry, and Bachelor's Degree in Theology from Andersonville Baptist Seminary. He was currently working on his Doctorate of Theology degree.

Clarence loved music and was blessed with the ability to play nearly any musical instrument that he tried. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing with his friends and family. He dearly loved his church family, but his life revolved around his wife, daughter, grandsons and son-in-law.

Through all his health struggles, he never faltered in proclaiming God's Word through his preaching, music, and daily life. Both his passion in serving God and his gentle nature made him a special man that left a legacy of hope, love and peace.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Combs of Wolcottville; a daughter, Jennifer (Tom) Tuttle of Wolcottville; two grandsons, Noah Tuttle and Aiden Tuttle; six brothers and sisters, Lilly (John) Powell of Findlay, Ohio, Kenith Combs of Kendallville, Danny Combs of Kendallville, Del (Wendy) Combs of Lafayette, Joanna "Becky" (Sgt. Major Danny) Conley of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Shronna (Mike) Mast of Rome City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Combs; and a nephew.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Five Corners Baptist Church, 2995 E 600 S, Wolcottville with the Reverend Jim Snyder and the Reverend Barry St. Clair officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.

Pallbearers will be Tom Tuttle, Noah Tuttle, Aiden Tuttle, Danny Conley, Willard Tuttle, Tony Miller, and Ralph Gibson.

Calling is Tuesday, August 14, 2018, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the church where there will be an evening service at 7 p.m.

Preferred memorials are to Five Corners Baptist Church.
