Obituary

Chester Coburn, 81 of Wolcottville died Sunday, March 18, 2007 at 1:00 A.M. at his residence. Mr. Coburn had moved to the Wolcottville and Stroh area from Kentucky in 1952. He retired in 1988 from Kendallville Foundry after 25 years. He had worked in the coal mines while living in Kentucky. Mr. Coburn was a member of Community Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran.He was born March 26, 1925 in Garrett, Kentucky to Andy and Eliza (Conley) Coburn. He married Osie Chaffins on December 24, 1952 in Garrett, KY. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and John Irelan of Kendallville and Melanie and Tim Reed of Sturgis, Michigan; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tim Coburn of Howe and John and Irene Coburn of West Virginia; a granddaughter he and his wife raised, Jill Cockerill and her husband Aaron of Wolcottville; a sister Martha Sells of Kendallville; a brother Clester Coburn of Corunna; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Services were Wednesday, March, 21, 2007 at Community Baptist Church in Wolcottville with Pastor Leburn Combs officiating. Burial was in Orange Cemetery near Rome City. Casketbearers were Aaron Cockerill, Jason VanHoozer, Rodney Tuttle, Patrick Tuttle, Cline Conley, and Elma Coburn.
