No service or calling at this time ****************************************************************************** Charlotte J. Smith, 84, of Kendallville passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014, in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville where she received loving, compassionate care.
She was born February 20, 1929, in LaGrange County to Byrl J. and Leona B. (Sturgis) Spice.
Surviving are two daughters, Charna (Brad) Baker of Kendallville and Alieta (Dennis) Graft of Avilla; two sons, Kevin (Cecilia) Smith of Albion and Timothy Smith of Kendallville; nine grandchildren, Rob Baker, Drew Baker, Cal Baker, Nathan Tipton, Seth Tipton, Megan Smith, Kelli Smith, Tia Tackett, and Noah Smith; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Teddy Tipton and Dustin Smith.
When Charlotte retired as a caseworker for the State of Indiana, her hobbies were her flower garden and her pets. Many homeless pets found loving homes through her efforts.
Her family has honored her request for no formal services, and requests memorials be directed to the Humane Society of Noble County, 1305 South Sherman Street, Kendallville, Indiana, 46755.
A celebration of Charlotte's life is planned by her family for a later date.
Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
