Charles R. Troyer, 79, of Kendallville died Thursday, December 27, 2012, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
He had lived in this area for over 50 years.
Mr. Troyer was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Morgan Horse Association.
He retired in 1995 as Training Supervisor for GTE in Fort Wayne.
He re-found his youth through horses. He lived a longer, fuller life because of his horses, Tallie, Amos, Hanna, Molly, Ruby, and Laddie.
Charles dearly loved his family and grandchildren.
He was born September 3, 1933, to Daniel R. and Esther M. (Belote) Troyer. On May 26, 1967, in Kendallville he married Patricia K. Crowl. She preceded him in death on January 30, 1995.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer L. and Scott Wyman of Fort Wayne; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bradly Scott and Teena Newport of Kendallville, Michael J. Troyer of Kendallville, and Todd and Denise Troyer of Florida; five grandchildren, Cort Newport, Kara Troyer, Brianna Newport, Abigail Wyman, and Maggie Wyman; three sisters, June Herb of Fort Wayne, Jean Rosendaul of LaGrange, and Jeanette Troyer of Fort Wayne; and a brother Daniel Troyer of LaGrange.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at 7 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. Sherri Long of the Wayne Center United Methodist Church, Kendallville officiating.
Calling is two hours prior to the services on Wednesday in the funeral home.
