Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Logan Parker, 85, of Hudson passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.

He was born March 21, 1933, in Ashley to the late Samuel Dan Parker and Alice (Kirchner) Parker Kistler.

He married Lela Mae Dangler on March 15, 1951, in Salem. She preceded him in death on June 30, 1998. He then married Roberta (Shaffer) Lochamire on April 21, 2007, in Helmer. She survives in Hudson.

Also surviving are five children, Kathy (Richard) Randol of LaGrange, Joyce (Jeff) Hoffman of Hudson, Loretta (Leif) Erikson of Hudson, Mike Parker of Big Turkey Lake, and Bob (Lisa) Parker of LaGrange; three stepchildren, Christopher (Cynthia) Lochamire of Hudson, Karen (Pat) Fox of Rome City, and Kenton (Ingrid) Lochamire of LaGrange; four siblings, Tom Parker of Hudson, Sam Parker of Michigan, Jim (Sandy) Parker of Illinois, and Dana Parker of Florida; step-siblings, Carolyn (John) Kistler Moyes of Florida and Tom (Pam) Kistler of Muncie; 18 grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a special family friend, Pam Eilts.

Also preceding him in death are his daughter-in-law, Mary Jane (Deam) Parker and great-grandson, Troy Logan Baker.

After graduating from Salem High School, Chuck attended Barber College and then served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He operated a barber shop in Hudson for 16 years, and at the same time worked as the Hudson Town Marshall. He worked for Sheets Oil Company in Angola until his retirement and then managed the Ashley Car Wash for several years.

He was a member of the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department for nearly 40 years; a member of both the Hudson and Helmer United Methodist Churches; a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge in Hudson and the Ashley-Hudson Lions Club. Chuck enjoyed playing horseshoe in tournaments, winning many trophies over the years.

Chuck loved his large family and enjoyed camping and playing with the little ones. He loved singing, often singing at weddings, funerals, and in church. While in high school, he sang in a Barbershop Quartet.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in the Helmer United Methodist Church with Pastor Donna Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in Circle Cemetery, Hudson.

Honor guard services will be provided by Angola American Legion Post 31 and active duty members of the U.S. Army.

Honorary pallbearers will be Neils Erikson and John Stalf. Active pallbearers will be Ryan Stalf, Erich James, Charlie James, Jeremy Parker, Jansen Parker, Josiah Parker, and Joel Parker.

Calling is Monday, April 23, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. A Masonic Lodge service will be conducted at 7:45 p.m. Calling will also be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Preferred memorials are to the Helmer United Methodist Church or the Parkinson's Research Foundation.
