Funeral services will be Thursday, October 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.

Calling is Thursday, October 2, 2014, from noon to 2 p.m. in the funeral home. **************************************************************************************** Charles S. "Chick" Nissen, 78, of Wawaka passed away Monday, September 29, 2014, peacefully in his sleep at his home surrounded by his family.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962, during the Berlin crisis. He attended Purdue University.

Mr. Nissen was a member of the Rome City American Legion Post 381 and St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Rome City.

Chick was employed by McCray Refrigeration in Kendallville as an engineer. After McCray Refrigeration closed, he started his own home improvement business, "Nissen and Post" with his business partner and lifelong friend, Jim Post and George Bently.

He was born August 30, 1936, in Okonomowoc, Wisconsin, to Lester and Ruth (Ansty) Nissen.

On February 4, 1961, in South Carolina he married Patricia A. Cassidy.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Patricia A. Nissen of Wawaka; two daughters, Tammy (Don) Mead of Wawaka and Polly Nissen of Wawaka; a son, David (Alda) Nissen of Wolcottville; six granddaughters, Jenny Parker, Sara Ramey-Watkins, Samantha Ramey, Megan Ramey, Caiti Skaggs, and Mandi Skaggs; three grandsons, David Nissen, Charles Mead, and Austin Mead; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Fryback of Fort Wayne, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Nissen; and a sister, Ramona (Nissen) Gard.

Funeral services will be Thursday, October 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.

Honor guard services will be provided by Rome City American Legion Post 381 and Kendallville VFW Post 2749.

Calling is Thursday, October 2, 2014, from noon to 2 p.m. in the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the Orange Township Fire Department, Rome City.
