Charles E. Latchaw, 73, of Kendallville died Saturday, November 19, 2011, at 6:04 p.m. in Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville.

Mr. Latchaw graduated from Defiance High School in Defiance, Ohio. He attended Tri-State College in Angola, General Motors Institute in Detroit, and Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio.

He retired from sales and management with 27 years in the automotive business, having worked for Shepherd's in Kendallville and Petro's in Warsaw.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Kendallville.

Charles loved his family, friends, church, travelling, landscaping, and growing roses.

He was born April 27, 1938, in Defiance, Ohio, to Charles K. and Belva (Hall) Latchaw. On August 24, 1960, in Defiance, Ohio, he married Nancy Roesti.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Latchaw of Kendallville; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Margery Latchaw of Fort Wayne; a daughter and son-in-law, Nanette and Nick Yarde of Huntington; three grandchildren, Zachary, Jonathon, and Leslie Marie Yarde all of Huntington; a sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Doug Parker of Defiance, Ohio; and two brothers-in-law and their wives, Jon and Sylvia Roesti of Defiance, Ohio, and Larry and Sharon Roesti of St. Louis, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Faith United Methodist Church, 411 East Harding Street, Kendallville, with Rev. Steve Bahrt officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance, Ohio, at 3 p.m.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lt. Col. USMC Troy Roesti and Darren Roesti. Active pallbearers will be Zachary Yarde, Jonathon Yarde, Leslie Yarde, Jason Roesti, Brian Roesti, Branden Roesti, Dennis Roesti, and Derek Roesti.

Calling is Tuesday, November 22, 2011, from 2 to 8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Preferred memorials are to Faith United Methodist Church or the donor's choice.
